New 30km speed limit signs appear on the approaches to Slane.

Meath County Council workers have been observed recently erecting new speed limit signs on the roads approaching the village. While the bye-law implementing the new speed limits will come into force on 11th January 2010, Meath County Council have introduced a 30kph temporary road works speed limit from the 7th December. Thus, the new limits are effectively in force now.

Although an inconvenience to drivers, whether local or from further afield, this is a very minor inconvenience. If this measure leads to a reduction in crashes in Slane then they must be regarded as a success.
