Get your car sticker: | Two incidents in one day. 21 June 2011 In the first incident a car travelling northwards along the N2 towards Slane Bridge went out of control and crashed into the front wall of a house on the left side of the road. The car and the gateway and wall of the house were seriously damaged. The driver was injured in the incident and was taken to the Lourdes hospital. While the traffic was being cleared a diversion was put into place with some traffic being directed eastwards from McGruder's Cross towards Donore. The second incident of the day took place on this stretch of road when a two German tourists travelling on a motorbike to the Bru na Boinne Centre collided with a car. Both were injured and were taken to hospital. It is not clear whether the accident was due to increased levels of traffic diverted from the N2. The initial crash may have been caused by excessive speed although it appears that the car, at the time, was just outside the 60kmh speed limit zone. It appears possible that the second incident may have occurred as a result of the diversion put in place in the aftermath of the first. Back to Home. |
